Dr Ilaria Pagani is passionate award-winning biomedical researcher working int the field of Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML) at SAHMRI. Her seminal patient-centred research contributed to changing the treatment paradigm for CML from a lifelong disease control to cure. She is a recognised emerging national and international leader in CML, aimed to develop a national plan for treat this still fatal leukaemia. While being productive in her research, Dr Pagani is an active science communicator, leader in the Italo-Australian community and health influencer. She is proud co-founder of the first Association of CML patients in Australia, CMLa, aiming to make an impact on the life of CML patients and their families in Australia. She is a passionate advocate for women in STEMM careers, and mentor of the future generation of scientists.
